Leader Bios

Chad John, Columbia College

Chad John retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent in July 2021 after 24.5 years of service, investigating primarily complex financial crime and public corruption matters.  Between 2015 and 2020, Chad supervised personnel in the Jefferson City and St. Joseph Resident Agencies, responsible for 30 counties in central and northwest Missouri.  Chad was a member of the FBI’s Evidence Response Team and an Employee Assistance Program Peer.  Prior to joining the FBI, Chad worked for Ernst & Young in Kansas City, Missouri for more than four years in the audit department.  He graduated from the University of Missouri with a BS in Accountancy and from Florida Atlantic University with a Master of Accountancy in Forensic Accounting.  He is a licensed CPA in the state of Missouri, Certified in Financial Forensics, and is a Certified Fraud Examiner.  Chad enjoys speaking on current fraud matters as well as interacting with his students in the classroom.

Christopher Kuehl, Managing Director, Armada Corporate Intelligence

You may have seen – or heard – Dr. Kuehl on Kansas City radio or television. He's a frequent commentator and analyst for both KMBZ radio and Channel 41. He was a professor of international finance and economics for 15 years, teaching in Estonia, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Hungary, and the United States. He's conducted business in 37 countries and has been involved in corporate intelligence for a wide range of companies – from Fortune 200 to local Kansas City-based manufacturers.

Jan Lewis

Jan Lewis is a Tax Partner with Haddox Reid Eubank Betts PLLC in Ridgeland, MS. Her responsibilities include income and estate tax planning, research, and compliance for individual and business clients. Her areas of practice include healthcare, oil & gas, construction, real estate, and high net worth individuals. She has taught continuing education classes throughout Mississippi and nationwide to CPAs in the areas of income tax planning, business tax matters, and S Corporation tax matters, and has given presentations on financial literacy, tax reform, and other tax issues to various groups across the state. She has authored articles on tax matters for the Tax Adviser publication of the AICPA's Tax Division. Jan has also served as a webcast leader for the AICPA since 2016 on topics such as Accountants Liability in Tax Practice and S corporation issues.

Jan is active in the Mississippi Society of CPAs and has served as President of the Society and as a member of the MSCPA Board of Governors. Jan currently is a member of the MSCPA's Long Range Planning Committee and the MSCPA's Young CPAs Liaison Committee.

Jan is also an active member of the AICPA. She has served as the MSCPA's elected representative to the AICPA Council, and on the AICPA Life Insurance and Disability Plans Committee. She was a member and chair of the AICPA's Tax Practice and Procedures Committee, and currently serves as chair of the AICPA's Tax Executive Committee, the senior committee overseeing the work of all Tax Division committees and technical resource panels. Jan has also served as an appointed member of the AICPA's G400 Practice Advisory Group.

Jan is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Mississippi State University. She is a member and past chairperson of the Adkerson School of Accountancy Advisory Board at MSU and was selected as the MSU College of Business's Alumni Fellow for 2016.

Jason Lipschultz

Jason is a risk management executive with over 20 years of experience in business processes, IT governance, and compliance. He serves as the Midwest Technology Industry Leader and leads Aprio’s Chicago Risk Advisory and Assurance* Services (RAAS) team. Jason is responsible for developing the team and assisting clients with compliance requirements to support their business operations and growth.
He has worked with high-growth companies seeking to enter the market, grow their business, and achieve compliance requirements. Jason has also collaborated with established enterprises that require comprehensive support throughout the compliance process and aim to use technology to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
He takes pride in helping firms work together with their customers to achieve compliance in a mutually beneficial way and establish himself and his team as a trusted advisor.
Jason earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from The George Washington University School of Business, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and a Master of Science in Information Systems Technology degree. He is professionally involved with the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, serving as a Board Member (including the Executive Committee) and a Technology Council and Membership Committee member, as well as the ISACA Chicago Chapter.

Mike Ray, CAMICO

Mike Ray, CPA, is CAMICO's President and Chief Executive Officer. He has more than 30 years of experience in Big Four public accounting and the insurance industry.

Ray, who first joined CAMICO in 2023 as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO), previously worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and served as the CFO for California Casualty Insurance Company for 16 years.

Ray earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has more than 10 years of leadership experience with the California Society of CPAs San Francisco Chapter, including serving as vice chair of CalCPA's Board of Directors.

Thomas Stephens, K2 Enterprises

Tommy Stephens Jr., CPA, CGMA, CITP, is a shareholder at K2 Enterprises where he lectures internationally on subjects, such as internal controls for small businesses, technology strategies, computer hardware and software applications, tax strategies and compliance and financial accounting standards and applications. Stephens background also includes his work as an auditor and technology consultant for an Atlanta-based public accounting firm, leading an internal audit staff and managing a cost accounting team for a Fortune 500 company and serving as CFO for an international engineering organization. In the last 25 years, he has also presented over 2,700 educational sessions to over 70,000 participants throughout the U.S. and Canada.
