- Communication Skills
Lauren AldrichLauren Aldrich
Lauren Aldrich is driven by her curiosity and desire for improvement. Despite the bets she makes with her husband, she's not always right but she's always learning. Growing up, she was dubbed "the talker" and bossy but realized that was not always a good thing. As a CPA and former Auditor turned Corporate Controller, there have been times when her ability to convey information meant the difference between success and failure.
In her current role, Lauren plays a pivotal role in a company-wide transformation where being able to communicate clearly and effectively is key. With a teaching mindset, Lauren strives to communicate in a way that allows others to not only hear but to understand. Communicating in this way promotes her own understanding as she gains perspective from diverse groups of people, thereby enabling her to better facilitate the resolution of challenges.
Lauren has served in volunteer positions with the Louisiana Society of CPAs, the AICPA Student Recruitment Committee, and is a 2019 graduate of the AICPA Leadership Academy.

General Session
- Cyber Heist Chronicles: Somebody Understood the Assignment...Others Fumbled the Bag
This isn’t your typical cybersecurity training. In this lively session, we walk through a real-world-inspired cyberattack that plays out like a true crime story. It features a small-town utility company, a clever hacker, and a group of well-meaning employees who miss the signs until it’s almost too late.
Attendees will follow the timeline of a business email compromise (BEC) that spirals into a full-blown incident. Along the way, they’ll see how small oversights can lead to major consequences, and more importantly, what could have been done differently. The session is full of practical insights, real-life parallels, and specific takeaways for professionals who work with payroll, HR, or sensitive financial information.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
-
Describe how business email compromise (BEC) attacks unfold and escalate over time.
-
Identify common red flags in phishing emails, spoofed messages, and social engineering tactics used to target HR, payroll, and financial professionals.
-
List specific actions individuals and organizations can take to prevent account compromise, including MFA, secure communication practices, and policy changes.
-
Recognize newer threats like voice deepfakes, QR code scams, and compromised vendor accounts that are particularly relevant in 2025.
-
Apply verification and communication strategies to help prevent financial fraud and data exposure in daily work.
This session is available to registrants only.

Optional Session
- Optional Session: Missouri State-Specific Ethics
In a world of increasing complexity, the last thing CPAs need to worry about is obtaining or renewing licenses and permits with regulators. Yet, it can be challenging to find and understand the requirements to keep your license or firm humming along so you can focus on client and business work. Compliance-related issues are not fun, but the basics should be understood by all CPAs.
To that end, MOCPA is proud to bring you the 2025 update of the popular Missouri State-Specific Regulatory Ethics course that was introduced in 2019.
This program has been developed and edited by members of MOCPA's Professional Ethics Committee and has been reviewed by members of the Missouri State Board of Accountancy.
