Article submissions and story ideas for The ASSET and its online publications are encouraged and welcome!

The MSCPA's publications strive to keep its members informed of news and updates relating to the accounting profession:

The ASSET:

Published bi-monthly and contains news and feature articles regarding the most updated information about the CPA profession, MSCPA members, society news, and MSCPA events.

The MSCPA Online Newsletters: Published weekly and contain timely news and alerts on regulatory issues, business tips, upcoming events, and much more!

MSCPA members may receive one, two, or all three of MSCPA's online newsletters. The three newsletters are:

  1. CPAs in Public Practice E-News
  2. CPAs in Business & Industry E-News
  3. Young Professionals E-News

MSCPA committees are particularly encouraged to submit articles relating to hot topics within their respective special interest area.

The ASSET includes special interest sections in every issue. These sections include:

  • Accounting & Auditing
  • Tax
  • Business & Industry
  • Technology
  • Work Life Balance

Topics related to other special interest areas may be covered in feature articles or may be published in The MSCPA Online Newsletters.

Earn CPE Credit for ASSET Articles


According to the Missouri State Board of Accountancy, a CPA can earn,

  • Credit for one (1) hour of continuing education... for each hour devoted to writing an article published by a professional journal or periodical or a published book; provided, it contributes directly to the author's professional competence. http://www.sos.state.mo.us/
  • In the event that the State Board of Accountancy audits your CPE units, you should have a published copy of your article on file, as well as other details regarding your work on the article (date(s) wrote, time spent writing, etc.)

Submission Requirements for MSCPA Publications


  • Article length should not exceed 700 words (1300 words for technology articles).
  • Topics should be relevant and timely.
  • Articles should be written in the third person (please avoid "we" or "I" language).
  • All writers will receive a byline. Authors should provide a one-sentence bio with each article.
