Application Form

Purpose:
The Educational Foundation of the Missouri Society of CPAs sponsors this contest to give students the opportunity to pursue fulfilling careers as CPAs. High school seniors can win college scholarships of $500, which will be awarded based on academic achievement, test scores, demonstrated leadership potential, and clarity of a stated "Viewpoint." Scholarships are not needs-based.

Eligibility:
Applicant must be a high school senior (12th grade) during the 2008-2009 school year. The student must be a Missouri resident and enroll in at least 12 college course hours at a Missouri college or university.

All applicants must submit the Application Form by January 31, 2009.

All students selected as scholarship recipients will be required to submit proof of school enrollment, grade level, academic achievement, and test scores to the Missouri Society of CPAs. Scholarship dollars are intended for use by students attending a college or university in Missouri who are pursuing an accounting degree. Once all requested information has been verified, the scholarship winner’s award will be sent to his/her requested school, payable jointly to the student and the accredited college or university. Scholarship money may be used for educational-related purposes only.

The scholarship recipient has one year from the date of being notified to enroll in an approved institution and utilize the award. After that time, all obligations on the part of the Missouri Society of CPAs and/or the Educational Foundation of the Missouri Society of CPAs to pay the stipulated scholarship shall be null and void.

"Viewpoint:"
Why Is Obtaining a CPA Designation Important to You?

Judging:
"Viewpoints" should not exceed 500 words. A panel of judges will evaluate the text for content, creativity, clarity, mechanics, and the ability to effectively communicate the relevancy of accountancy to the topic.

The Missouri Society of CPAs will have the right to edit, publish, or otherwise duplicate any "Viewpoint" entered into the contest without payment to the author.

Deadline:
All scholarship applications must be received by the Missouri Society of CPAs via the website by 5 p.m. central standard time on Jan. 31, 2009. Scholarship recipients will be notified in mid-March 2009.
