“The MSCPA has done so much to help me reach my goals and it is my hope that someday, when I’m a CPA, I can give back to your organization that has given me so much.”

Emily Petelin

“The financial support provided to me by the MSCPA Educational Foundation over the past three years has afforded me the chance to give time and energy to important endeavors and organizations.  I do not take the awards lightly and will continue to strive for excellence in all areas of my life.”

Norman Wohlschlaeger

Three-time LEAP Scholarship Winner & Don Breimeier Memorial Scholarship Recipient

“I wanted to express my sincere gratitude to the Missouri Society of CPAs for the generous scholarship.  With the rising cost of education, organizations such as the MSCPA make it possible for students like myself to continue pursuing accounting degrees.  Thanks again for aiding in the funding of my coursework, and I promise to represent the MSCPA in a respectable and professional manner.”

Stephen Farrell

2006-2007 LEAP Scholarship Recipient

Help Support the Future of Your Profession!

In 2001, the Missouri Society of CPAs created the LEAP Career Initiative, including the scholarship and fund-raising programs, to raise awareness, build understanding, and change perceptions about the CPA profession in Missouri.  The program’s mission is simple, yet powerful!

While the society is proud to report accounting enrollment is at an all-time high, it still remains critically important that LEAP continue in the future to serve the profession as a vibrant and powerful awareness initiative.  The combination of several determining factors include:

  1. LEAP scholarship applicants have been and will continue to be a major contributor of leads to the society’s membership development efforts.
  2. Recruiting and retaining top talent has been the number one concern for firms for the past 10 years, according to the AICPA PCPS/MAP Top Issues Survey.
  3. The impending workforce shortage caused by the tremendous amount of retiring baby boomers will hurt virtually every profession.

The time is more critical than ever that LEAP continues to help young people understand the rewards of working in the CPA profession.

After six years of building strong awareness of the profession and helping to turn around the declining numbers of accounting majors, LEAP now seeks to continue its awareness initiatives with the intent to replenish the looming workforce shortage and help Missouri firms/companies recruit and retain CPA top talent.
