MSCPA has published this new brochure to assist candidates with the new and sometimes confusing process of taking the new computerized CPA exam. Firms and companies are welcome to receive printed copies of this resource…or you may access it online at the below website. The information in this new resource has been approved by the Missouri State Board of Accountancy and the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA).

>  Consolidation Ahead for Accounting Firms
AccountingWeb reports that stricter regulations and slower economic growth continue to impact America’s accounting industry, causing many firms, especially mid-sized firms, to see mergers and acquisitions in the future, according to a new survey from IBISWorld, leading publishers of business research and analysis.

>  Missouri Governor Blunt Announces $981,770 in State Tax Credits
Missouri Governor Matt Blunt announced this week the approval $981,770 in Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) tax credits for five Missouri not-for-profit organizations dedicated to providing services to Missourians.

>  Thirty Percent Decrease in Missouri Unemployment Claims Filed
Missouri has experienced another month of declining initial and weekly unemployment insurance claims filed by unemployed workers. According to a report from the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations’ Division of Employment Security, fewer Missourians filed initial and weekly unemployment insurance claims in July. http://www.dolir.mo.gov/Newsreleases/releases/uimonthlyclaims706.htm
   

>  IRS Outlines Taxpayer Protections in Private Debt Collection Program

>  New Split-Refund Form Available for Public Comment
The IRS announced a draft of Form 8888, Direct Deposit of Refund, the new form for taxpayers who opt to split their refunds among accounts, is now available for public comment.

>  Sticky Fingers Force Firings
How many sticky fingers are in your office? As reported by SmartPros, a recent CareerBuilder.com survey found that although only one in 10 workers admitted to stealing from their employers, 38 percent of hiring managers reported they have fired employees for office theft. http://accounting.smartpros.com/x54479.xml
   

>  EDGE Report Shows Skills Shortage is Paying Off for Workers
As Labor Day approaches, it appears professionals may have more negotiating power with employers than they think. Fifty-five percent of hiring managers surveyed for this year’s Employment Dynamics and Growth Expectations (EDGE) Report said it was difficult to find qualified candidates 12 months ago; 81 percent said recruiting is equally or more challenging today.

After you apply an AutoFormat effect, you may decide you don't like it. To make a change, all you need to do is choose AutoFormat again and pick a different format. You can also choose Undo from the Edit menu or click your mouse on the Undo tool on the toolbar.
