>  CPA Profession Commits $15 Million to Fill Shortage of Accounting Professors

The Accounting Doctoral Scholars program has been created to help reverse a shortage of Ph.D. accounting faculty in U.S. colleges and universities. The program seeks to encourage persons with significant public accounting experience to become PhDs in the audit and tax disciplines. To date, more than 70 of the country's largest firms, along with several state CPA societies, have committed a total of $15 million to the program.

>  IRS Releases Updated Drafts of Corporate and Partnership Tax Forms

The IRS has released for public comment draft revisions to Form 1065, U.S. Return of Partnership Income, Form 1120, U.S. Corporation Income Tax Return, and certain related schedules. Included in the release are new Schedule B for Form 1120 and Schedule C for Form 1065. These forms will be for use for tax years ending on or after Dec. 31, 2008.

>  SEC To Hold Hearing on IFRS, GAAP Role in U.S. Stock Market Declines

The SEC plans a hearing Aug. 4 to analyze the performance of International Financial Reporting Standards versus U.S. generally accepted accounting principles during the U.S. credit crunch and subprime mortgage meltdown.

>  PCAOB Adopts Rules for Succeeding to Registration Status of Predecessor Firm

The PCAOB adopted rules and a corresponding form that govern when a firm would be allowed to succeed to the registration status of a predecessor firm following a merger or other change in the registered firm’s legal form.

The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 turned six years old on July 30. There are many ways that you can use Excel's tools to fill out various cells in a worksheet. One of the most common tools is to copy a cell (or cells) and then paste them into other cells.
