Companies Underutilizing Globalization Strategies
According to the
third annual RSM McGladrey Manufacturing and
Wholesale Distribution
National Survey (MWD) and reported by AccountingWEB, companies reporting their business
conditions as "thriving and growing" declined by nearly 10 percent
in the past year.

> Revenue-Recognition Rules:
From the Many, One?
E pluribus unum is
the rally cry behind the newest push by the Financial Accounting Standards
Board to rewrite revenue recognition rules and guidance. At its last board
meeting, the five-member panel decided to publish a discussion paper that
will cover key concepts regarding revenue recognition — notably, the
possibility of boiling down the myriad industry-specific rules into a single
general standard, reports CFO Magazine.

> Survey: CFOs Cite Greater Focus On
Profitability In Last Five Years
Finance executives
have shifted their attention from corporate governance initiatives to the
bottom line, a new survey suggests. One in four CFOs surveyed said the most
significant change in their roles over the past five years is a greater focus
on increasing profitability. One in five respondents indicated they are now
interacting with colleagues in other departments more frequently.
