> Changes to Minimum Wage Law Effective January 1, 2008

Effective January 1, 2008, and as required by last year’s ballot initiative, Missourians will see an increase to the minimum wage. Beginning the first of the year, the state’s minimum hourly wage will increase by 15 cents from $6.50 to $6.65 per hour.

> FEI Asks FASB To Delay Effective Date of FAS 157 By One Year

In a comment letter filed Oct. 1, 2007, FEI’s Committee on Corporate Reporting (CCR) and Small Public Company Task Force (SPCTF) asked the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) to delay the effective date of FAS 157, “Fair Value Measurement,” by one year.

> Financial Restatements Average Seven Weeks

The average filing time between the initial filing of a Form 8-K and the restated financial statements was seven weeks and the median was three weeks, according to a new study.

> Jump In E-filed Corporate Tax Returns Produces Record
The IRS announced that more than 800,000 of the nation’s small businesses and large corporations have electronically filed their tax returns so far this year, a 60 percent increase from last year.
