> BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!

Make A Difference To Future CPAs!

MSCPA is proud to announce a new pilot program in St. Louis with Junior
Achievement. This new partnership with Junior Achievement offers CPAs a chance to present a special accounting curriculum for high school students. To prepare you for presenting the curriculum, CPA volunteers are asked to attend a one-time, two-hour training session, which will be held in the MSCPA Learning Center on Tuesday, October 2, 2007.  There will be a session in the morning from 8:00-10:00 a.m. and an afternoon session from 2:00-4:00 p.m.

In August, 40 CPAs participated in the first training event and are all off and running with the program.  For those who were not able to participate in the training session in August, the October 2 date has been set just for you!

> Survey: Most Executives Would Not Opt for Self-Employment,
But Many Intrigued by the Prospect
Most executives would decline the opportunity to be their own boss, according to a new survey. Sixty-five percent of respondents said they feel the average executive would not choose to be self-employed if he or she had the necessary startup capital.  Thirty-two percent disagreed -- down from the 38 percent in a similar survey 10 years earlier who felt senior managers would, indeed, take the plunge.
