It's Time To Renew Your MSCPA Membership!

It's been a jam-packed year for CPAs in Missouri...and the coming year is not anticipated to slow down a bit!

MSCPA is hard at work aggressively promoting the profession to future generations, with the hope of ensuring a labor force that will be able to lead the profession with the large number of job vacancies coming as baby boomers retire in droves.  MSCPA's student initiative, LEAP, is nationally recognized as one of the best and most influential student recruitment initiatives in the country.

In addition, MSCPA is working hard to help the profession with interstate practice mobility--an issue that increasingly causes problems for our more mobile business environment.  Differing state laws prohibit easy practice across state lines.  MSCPA is working to introduce legislation to the Missouri legislature that will correct this problem.

Access to the most comprehensive CPE in the state, profession-specific publications, career services, and savings and discounts are just a few great reasons why 8,500 CPAs are committed members of the Missouri Society of CPAs.

Your MSCPA membership renewals will be mailed later this month, which reflects the 2007-08 dues schedule, which was approved by the MSCPA Board of Directors.  You may view the new schedule athttp://www.mocpa.org/content/files/pdfs/0708dues.pdf

Renew your membership for a year that promises even more positive change for Missouri CPAs!

Healthcare Costs to Climb 11 Percent

Healthcare costs are expected to increase on average 11 percent in the next 12 months, according to Aon Consulting. While costs continue to rise at double-digit rates, the current trend rate has declined more than four percentage points since fall 2001, when the projection was 15.6 percent.

'Affiliation' A Key Driver Of Productivity, Says Rewards Of Work Study

Employee satisfaction with benefits affects how strongly works feel affiliated with their organization, and is one key finding of Sibson Consulting's 2006 Rewards of Work Study. Affiliation, in turn, was found to be a major driver of employee productivity and turnover. Thus, benefits impact turnover and productivity through their effect on affiliation. Read the full report of the survey of 1,283 respondents on benefit satisfaction, retention and productivity.

CFOs Report on Third Quarter Financial Hiring Projections

Financial executives expect to continue hiring accounting and finance professionals in the third quarter, according to the Robert Half Financial Hiring Index, although at a more moderate rate than during the second quarter.  Six percent of CFOs surveyed anticipate adding employees and 3 percent forecast personnel cutbacks.  Ninety percent of those polled foresee no change in staff levels.  Respondents cited rising workloads as the primary driver of hiring.

Technology Tip of the Week

Provided by the MSCPA Information Technology Committee

In Excel, Provide Users With An Easy-To-Use Toolbar For Their Excel Spreadsheets
