Nearly 40 small firm practitioners from across the state have met in both Columbia and St. Louis to participate in the first two MSCPA Small Firm Networking Roundtables. Various ideas and issues ranging from staffing concerns to balancing work and life during tax season were shared and openly discussed among the participants.

MSCPA has launched a financial literacy initiative to improve the financial health of Missourians. The MSCPA Financial Literacy League is part of a national effort of the CPA profession to reach out to the community and educate the public on matters of financial practices that apply to various stages of life.

> February Marked Highest Refund Month Ever for Missouri
With an incredible 99.95 percent of error-free individual income tax refunds processed in 4 days or less, the Missouri Department of Revenue issued the highest refund amount ever for one month. During February, the department refunded over $218 million to Missouri taxpayers. This week, the department sent out its one-millionth refund.

> IRS Identifies 40 Frivolous Positions for Taxpayers to Avoid
The IRS issued guidance identifying dozens of frivolous positions that taxpayers should avoid when filing their tax returns. The guidance lists 40 positions which have no basis for validity in existing law or which have been deemed frivolous by the United States Tax Court or other federal court.

> Missouri MO$T Program Exceeds $1 Billion in Assets

The State of Missouri announced last week that MOST, Missouri's 529 college savings plan, has reached $1 billion in assets under management.

> Missouri Economy Remains Strong In Spite of Seasonal Trends

Employment decreased seasonally in Missouri's metropolitan areas in January, and unemployment experienced seasonal increases in most areas of the state. However, labor market data generally show improved conditions over the past year.

In Excel, Making Revisions

Once you turn on revision marking, Excel starts tracking your changes. You can still make changes to your workbooks as you normally do, the only difference is that Excel pays a bit closer attention to what you are doing. When you edit a cell, Excel outlines the cell in blue and places a blue triangle indicator in the upper-left corner of the cell.
