> Congratulations to the 2007-08 MSCPA Board of Directors Nominees!
In accordance with the MSCPA bylaws, the following nominees are reported now to the membership.  Seven members of MSCPA have been nominated to serve on the MSCPA Board of Directors for the 2007-08 fiscal year. The current MSCPA Board of Directors approved these candidates during its meeting on January 23, 2007.

> MSCPA Small Firm Networking Roundtables

Nearly 40 small firm practitioners from across the state have met between Columbia and St. Louis to participate in the first MSCPA Small Firm Networking Roundtable. Various ideas and issues ranging from staffing concerns to balancing work and life during tax season were shared and openly discussed among the participants.

MSCPA has launched a financial literacy initiative to improve the financial health of Missourians. The MSCPA Financial Literacy League is part of a national effort of the CPA profession to reach out to the community and educate the public on matters of financial practices that apply to various stages of life.

> Missouri Tax Deadline Extended to April 17

Following the lead of the IRS, the Missouri Department of Revenue announced last week that taxpayers will have an extra day to file and pay 2006 individual income tax, corporate income/franchise tax, and financial institution taxes.

> AICPA and Firms Form New Group to Improve Audit Quality

U.S. accounting firms have formed a new private-sector group to improve audit quality and restore confidence in a profession tarnished by massive corporate accounting scandals. The nonprofit organization, unveiled Tuesday, is affiliated with the AICPA and backed by the Big Four accounting firms—Deloitte & Touche LLP, Ernst & Young LLP, KPMG LLP and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP—plus the five next largest audit firms.

> CPA Firms Grow Despite Decreases in Mergers

CPA firms are experiencing strong growth with 76 percent reporting an increase in firm size in the last year, according to benchmark data in the 2006 National MAP Survey conducted by AICPA.

Technology Tip of the Week

In Excel, Multiple Print Areas

You can set up a worksheet just the way you want, and then define two non-contiguous areas on the worksheet as your print area. For instance first select A1:C5, then hold down the Ctrl key as you select E3:G5. This selection can then be defined as the print area (File | Print Area | Set Print Area). When you print the worksheet, each of the selected ranges (A1:C5 and E3:G5) will be printed, but they will print on separate sheets of paper. There is a way to get them on a single sheet of paper.
