> Job Growth Continues in Missouri

Missouri labor market conditions improved in November. Employment was higher and unemployment lower than in October, on a seasonally adjusted basis.  Nonfarm payroll employment increased by 2,400 jobs, on a seasonally adjusted basis, to 2, 756,000. In addition, estimated October employment was revised upward from the preliminary estimate by 6,700 jobs. Missouri has created 45,400 jobs since January 2005.

> GASB Proposal Would Establish Guidance for Intangible Assets
Last week, GASB issued a proposal that would establish accounting and financial reporting guidance for intangible assets. The proposal describes an intangible asset as an asset that lacks physical substance, is nonfinancial in nature, and has an initial useful life extending beyond a single reporting period. Examples of intangible assets include easements, computer software, water rights, timber rights, patents, and trademarks.

> IRS Announces Installment Agreement User Fee Increases for Some Taxpayer
Effective the beginning of this year, the Internal Revenue Service has implemented revised user fees for installment agreements. For eligible individuals with income at or below certain levels, the fee for entering new agreements has not increased but remained at the 2006 level.

> PCAOB Proposes Revised Auditing Standard on Internal Control over Financial Reporting
The PCAOB voted unanimously to propose for public comment a new standard on auditing internal control over financial reporting and other related proposals.  The proposed standard would replace the Board’s existing internal control standard, Auditing Standard No. 2.

Forget Tools|Customize and View|Toolbars. The easiest way to open a toolbar that is not currently visible is: (1) Right-click on any toolbar to obtain a list of toolbars available. (2) With a left-click, select the toolbar you want from the list. That toolbar then appears on screen.
