Nearly 100 young professionals from St. Louis and Kansas City gathered together at local establishments to relax, unwind, and socialize last month. CPAs and CPAs-in-the- making from more than 20 firms and companies shared stories, laughs, and even televised Cardinal baseball. Young CPAs Are Needed For the LEAP Job Shadowing Program

National Groundhog Job Shadow Day is a nationwide initiative dedicated to giving students a unique opportunity to "shadow" a workplace mentor as he or she goes through a normal day on the job, getting an up-close look at how the skills learned in school. On February 2, 2007, the Missouri Society of CPAs will mobilize member firms and businesses to open their doors to students. Nationwide, more than one million students and 100,000 businesses participate.

Chronic job hoppers may bounce themselves out of consideration for future opportunities, a new survey of CFOs suggests. Eighty-seven percent of CFOs polled said the length of time a candidate has spent with previous employers is an important factor when evaluating that person for a position with their company.
