Colleen K. Conrad, CPA

Partner; RubinBrown LLP; St. Louis

As chairperson for the AICPA Board of Examiners (BOE) and partner in real estate services at RubinBrown LLP, Colleen Conrad embodies the leadership characteristics honored by the Women-to-Watch Awards.

Serving as the second woman to chair the BOE, she has blazed trails for her female successors. Prior to taking on a national role, Conrad was a board member and two-term president of the Missouri State Board of Accountancy.

As a result of Conrad’s expertise and perseverance, Missouri is a leading-edge state in national regulatory matters, including the Uniform Accountancy Act and CPA mobility legislation. Conrad’s contributions to the profession have significant influence not only on today’s accountants and the global business community, but also on those of the next generation.

“Colleen is nationally recognized for her knowledge and leadership and, more importantly, for her ability to get things done,” says Ken Bishop, senior vice president and director of CPA examinations for the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy.  “As chairman of the BOE, she has established a level of credibility and trust from all states that is unprecedented, allowing her to lead the efforts to continue to improve the CPA examination.”

Conrad is also active within her firm, serving as a Career Development Coordinator and Mentor to coach and develop future leaders at RubinBrown.  Beyond the office, she is a member of the Landmarks Association of Greater St. Louis, an organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing St. Louis’s architectural heritage, and serves as a liturgist, Sunday school teacher, and member of the finance and building committees for her church.
