Emily S. Kliethermes, CPA

Comptroller; Missouri Republican Party; Jefferson City

Leadership, service, and commitment to her profession are second nature to Emily Kliethermes.  For the last five years, Kliethermes has served as comptroller to the Missouri Republican Party (MRP).  When she joined the MRP staff, she tackled inaccurate reporting to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars, amending reports and re-filing contribution and expenditure information.

She saved the Party from reporting disarray by becoming one of the leading experts in the state on federal and state campaign finance laws. Kliethermes possesses the technical proficiency and expertise demanded in the political sphere, where financial activities are often subject to public scrutiny.

“Emily appreciates the big picture,” says Robert Hess of Husch Blackwell Sanders, legal council to the Missouri Republic Party.  “When problems arise, she approaches them with the short-term goal of finding their solution and the long-term goal of identifying and addressing the root cause.”

Kliethermes’ dedication to her profession is evident through her service on the MSCPA Board of Directors, Educational Foundation, Young Professionals Advisory Council, and Accounting Education & Careers Committee.  In addition, she regular volunteers her time with students at Columbia College to provide career insight and assists in evaluating accounting capstone projects.  Outside of the profession, Kliethermes dedicates time to her church and family.

“Over the last two and a half years I have been constantly amazed at Mrs. Kliethermes’ professionalism, work ethic, diligence, commitment to her profession and outstanding work product,” says Jared Craighead, executive director of the Missouri Republican Party. “Her dedication to the profession is admirable, and I know the MSCPA counts itself extremely lucky to have a person of her caliber engaged and involved in your important work.”
