Work/Life Balance Committee

Committee Mission
To influence the accounting profession to affect the necessary changes to develop and retain a more competitive work force and to permit men and women to achieve balance among personal, family and professional responsibilities.

Continuing Activities
1) Promote discussion and serious evaluation of work/life balance issues to build sensitivity within the accounting profession of the importance of balancing personal and professional responsibilities.

2) Develop and make available case studies regarding practices that have been successfully used in the accounting profession to deal with work/life balance issues such as:

  • Alternative work schedules
  • Child care and elder care
  • Paternity/maternity leave
  • Gender awareness

3)  Coordinate with other committees to provide help in responding to work/life balance issues and to provide resources to assist in developing programs or presentations covering work/life balance issues.

Special Projects

1) Write articles for The ASSET to make our membership aware of the purpose of the Work/Life Balance Committee and to highlight and promote solutions to work/life balance issues that are of concern to our membership.

2) Provide members’ names who are willing to be listed in the MSCPA Consultation Service as sources to call for help with work/life balance issues.
